Academy of Art University is a great school to go to for Animation. I studied it there and learned a lot! Since all of their instructors are industry experts, I was able to get a lot of valuable information, while preparing for success in life after college. Once I graduated, I landed a great job at Rhythm & Hues Studio. The online program is incredible, with lots of interaction with other students and the instructors. I took classes online and in San Francisco, and I learned so much from both. Sometimes, the online class was easier to understand because I could replay the instruction videos.

No, you can get your degree on campus as well. You can also take online and oncampus classes together, which is was I do. This link has the requirement breakdown for an AA degree.
