Helvetica is the ubiquitous, quintessentially contemporary, sans serif typeface that was designed in Switzerland in 1957. This popular new documentary about the now 50-year-old font is a study of typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of this one font in light of the ways design affects our lives. Cleveland premiere. Beta SP. 80 min. Cleveland native Michael Bierut of NYC's Pentagram will introduce the film and answer audience questions afterward. Tickets available in advance at the Cleveland Museum of Art Ticket Center, in person or by phone (216-421-7350 or 1-888-CMA-0033). $2 per-ticket fee for phone orders.
