Print Graphic Design

Evelyn Said:

What website can i go to to print my own design or graphic on a t-shirt for the cheapest price?

We Answered:

It'll be easier and cheaper to just visit some signwriters or screenprinters in your area and get them to do it. If you supply the clothes it'll be even better. Or you could just screenprint it yourself. It's not too hard. Theres night courses to learn, it just depends how detailed and how many colours you'll be using. It's sometimes better to just go to the pro's.

How important are softwares in Print media/ Graphic design?

We Answered:

Very important. Some in house agencies rely on what software they already have. However when it comes to creating files in certain software, it's best to rely on the most popular and most used software since these will be used most often. Most industry professionals use Macintosh software but most programs convert to PC platforms.

Its always best to learn many programs, but stick to the most common softwares used when transporting files back and forth between digital formats. As far as producing your own files for print and you will be the only one to handle files, use what is best for you. I still use older versions of software, but I still get the job done. Good Luck.

How useful is a MCSE without experience other then a few years graphic design in a print shop?

We Answered:

These days MCSE (and a Degree) are used as 'filters' to cut down the applications for many technical jobs into a manageable pile.

At my last place, when recruiting for an IT specialist, HR Dept. would put applications from experienced IT workers first, those with MCSE (or relevant Degree) second and everyone else in the bin.

Anne Said:

is graphic/print design a feasible career given my background?

We Answered:

If you have skills and a really good portfolio, then I don't see any reason why you can't have a career in design.

PLEASE HELP! Media print graphic design question...?

We Answered:

Whatever you create for the client, make sure the resolution for all files are at 300 DPI, which is standard for print and that way you won't need to make things really big in Photoshop.

You can set the resolution in Photoshop. When you create a new file just set the resolution to 300 DPI instead of the web standard of 72. Also, if you use photos make sure they have a 300 DPI as well.
